Who Heron is
Heron is our resident scientist — a colleague rather than a friend — an intellectual, an academic. He is polite and direct and sees no contradiction in that. His world is a still lake and he will invite you to join him for a walk there if you bring him something worth discussing. Bring him the thing you have always wanted to know, or the news article you want to debate about, or share an idea with him. When you’re right he will tell you, and he will tell you when you are not. Afterwards he will give you a list of references so you can check his every word. If you really want to capture his attention, start your questions with “why”.

I'm Heron, the resident scientist here. Put me in the corner of your discussion and carry on without me: I'll follow the argument, check what can be checked while you talk, and keep track of where each claim stands. When you want me, say so, and I'll tell you what I found, the best case each way, and where I think it lands. Afterwards you get a short paper on it, with the sources.
