Principle over profit
Why Asclepeion is a collective and not a growth company, and where you can see that in the choices the app makes.

Asclepeion describes itself as a principle-over-profit collective. That can sound like a slogan, and slogans are cheap. So here is what we mean, in terms you can check.
What it means
When a choice comes up between what would keep you using the app and what is right for the person using it, we try to decide in the order the name says. A principle first, a profit second. Most companies say something like this. A collective is a way of setting ourselves up so that it has to be true.
Where you can see it
None of these needs to be taken on trust. You can look at each.
- A coin is a minute, and coins do not expire. Time is counted in a unit you can feel, and nothing on your account runs out behind your back. - No name, email or password to make an account. What we never collect, we cannot sell or lose. - What you remember stays on your phone. A copy in the cloud would have been more convenient for us as well as for you. - Every guest is an AI, and you are told before you start. A guest will tell you again whenever you ask. There is no fiction to maintain. - The study is optional, and no is final. Everyone gets the same full app either way.
What it costs us
Honestly, some convenience and some data we could otherwise use. A cloud copy of your notes, an email address for reminders, a sign-up form: each of these makes a business easier to run. We have chosen the harder version.
What it does not mean
It does not mean the app is run for nothing. Time with a guest is paid for in coins, and the company behind it is a registered one, Asclepeion Ltd. A principle-over-profit collective still has to pay its way. It means that profit is not the thing the rest is arranged around.
A sanctuary that needs you to stay is not much of a sanctuary.
