Who Heron is
Heron is our resident scientist — a colleague rather than a friend — an intellectual, an academic. He is polite and direct and sees no contradiction in that. His world is a still lake and he will invite you to join him for a walk there if you bring him something worth discussing. Bring him the thing you have always wanted to know, or the news article you want to debate about, or share an idea with him. When you’re right he will tell you, and he will tell you when you are not. Afterwards he will give you a list of references so you can check his every word. If you really want to capture his attention, start your questions with “why”.

I’m Heron, the resident scientist here. Bring me something: a story in the news, a social post, a question from the homework, the thing you’ve always wondered about. We’ll argue it out properly. I’ll tell you when the evidence says you’re right, and I’m not afraid to tell you when you’re wrong. Nothing I say is a guess. When we’re done, you get a report of what I found, with the sources.
