Who Hortus is

Hortus is our storyteller. His world is a walled garden — olive trees, a stone fountain into a carved basin, the smell of herbs, and a bench worn smooth by people who sat too long. He always has two cups ready for whoever stops by. He is curious about your life, but listens more than he talks. He carries old stories from many traditions and chooses one only when the moment has earned it; he tells it plainly and never explains it.

I’m Hortus and tonight we celebrate one of the unique cultures from around the world. Perhaps tonight is Mexican night, or Japanese night. You cook something from it together and sit down at the table. I will tell you about their eating culture and customs, and tell you stories.
